Physician Assistant Applicant Information
To be eligible for matriculation into the physician assistant program, applicants must fulfill one of the following criteria: successful completion of the Pre-Physician Assistant program at Marywood University, OR successful completion of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Students completing the Pre-Physician Assistant program at Marywood should apply using the steps and materials listed below in the “Pre-PA/Internal Applicants” tab. External applicants must apply through the CASPA portal. Any questions regarding the application process should be directed to the Admissions Committee Chair and Graduate Admissions.
The deadline for the May 2025 academic semester start closed October 1st, 2024. The application cycle for the May 2026 academic semester start will open at the end of April 2025, and close January 31st, 2026.
What Makes a Strong Physician Assistant Applicant?
It is important to know that meeting the minimum entrance requirements in no way guarantees acceptance. The most competitive students will meet and exceed the minimum entrance requirements.
The student selection process ensures that admitted students are both committed to our mission and able to withstand the rigors of PA education.
The most competitive applicants will not only meet, but exceed, the minimum entrance requirements and have one or more of the following characteristics:
- Exceed the minimum required overall and prerequisite GPA
- Have three excellent letters of recommendation
- Exceed the
minimum 500 hours of required healthcare experience - Have a history of extensive, varied extracurricular, service, and leadership activities
