Autism Spectrum DisordersEndorsement Certification (ASD)

Meet the Needs of Autistic Students with an Accelerated Online Autism Spectrum Disorders Endorsement

Marywood’s accelerated, online autism spectrum disorder (ASD) endorsement provides educators, school psychologists, counselors, and other professionals with the skills they need to meet the educational needs of students with ASD.

Our 12-credit program, which is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, can be completed in just two semesters. All classes are online, making them convenient for working professionals. Coursework is supplemented by 80 hours of field experience that allow students to work directly with children with ASD. If you are a teacher or school administrator, you can typically complete your field work within your own school district.

Professional Contribution

Most graduate degree programs in education include a closure experience called a Professional Contribution (PC). Depending on the program, the PC may be a project, thesis, exhibit, portfolio, internship, applied research, or action research. Degree candidates work under the guidance of a faculty mentor and give a public presentation of their Professional Contribution.

NoteRequirements discussed on this website regarding admission to a program, prerequisite and requisite courses, student teaching approval, and recommendation for certification and graduation are subject to change. Legislation governing educational programs in Pennsylvania is not static but evolves with the mission of the Pennsylvania Department of Education to 'ensure that every learner has access to a world-class education system that academically prepares children and adults to succeed as productive citizens.' Program curricula contained in this site will be modified to meet these regulations whenever the Pennsylvania Department of Education advances new guidelines.
