Marywood's Band Invited to Perform in Italy
Members of the Marywood University Wind Ensemble performed in Italy in the cities of Rome, Milan and Florence as part of an invited performance tour with the Northeaster Youth Wind Ensemble, starting on June 22 and continuing through June 30. The ensemble included additional performers from the entire American Youth Ensembles initiative with participants from Atlanta, Orlando and Birmingham.
Dr. F. David Romines– associate professor of music education and co-chair of Marywood’s Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance– served as the group's artistic director and conductor. Marywood students also performed solo and chamber works in several historic venues throughout Italy. The group continues to expand its international performance repertoire. Last year, Marywood music students performed at the Beijing International Arts Festival.
“Having Marywood students performing abroad in large and small groups in historic Italian venues is congruent with our mission,” Dr. Romines said. “Marywood is committed to providing students with comprehensive learning experiences and educating global citizens.”
