Center for Architectural Studies

In some cases, where students learn can be as important as what they learn. Where it can be a modern urban center or a historic city like Florence, or it can be a building so innovative in its design that it becomes a partner in the educational experience. Such is the case with Marywood’s Center for Architectural Studies, which houses the School of Architecture.

The School of Architecture is a state-of-the-art example of sustainable design. It's a spacious, adaptive re-use of Marywood's former gymnasium and natatorium. It features:

Two levels of open studios
Wood and metal shops
Digital Fabrication Lab
Plaster-casting room
Printers and plotters
Construction Materials Lab
Reference library

A two-story commons under a continuous skylight harvests abundant natural light throughout the day and serves as the building's "agora" - an open, shared, central space for educational exchanges among students and faculty. This is an ideal place for group discussions, debates, displays, and project critiques.

Every student is provided an individual work space with a drawing board, personal storage area, pin-up wall, and space for a laptop.

Cloud Room

The Cloud Room (CAS 251) is located on the second level of the Center for Architectural Studies, above the lobby. Including only chairs without desks, it is not considered a traditional classroom space. The Cloud Room is used by the School of Architecture as a meeting space and as a location for architecture lectures and guest speakers.

Visual Arts Classrooms

The Shields Center for Visual Arts contains studios, classrooms, and labs for Art Therapy and Graphic Design majors.

The Art Therapy studio is a multi-purpose space that serves as traditional classroom, studio, and therapeutic space for practical, hands-on learning. It contains computers, scanners, and printers, and features a one way viewing room that enables unobtrusive viewing of classroom processes for learning purposes.

Student Resources

University-level resources:

The Office of Student Success assists students with tutoring, writing, assistive technology, and disability services.
The Counseling/Student Development Center assists students with time management, study skills, counseling, and therapy to help students identify, clarify, and resolve critical issues.
The Learning Commons offers a vast array of learning resources including ebooks and journal databases. The librarians have created a detailed research guide for business students to assist with their search strategies. MBA students may also utilize the online interlibrary loan system to request articles and book chapters that are not available in the library's databases. The material is emailed directly to the students in 2-3 business days.

AASTMT–Marywood Dual Programs

The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) and Marywood University formed a partnership that serves as a channel to promote graduate education. This partnership focuses on cutting-edge majors in the digital economy field, guided by the teaching system of competence-oriented integration.

Zijing–Marywood MBA

The Zijing-Marywood MBA program is a one-of-a-kind program in the market. This MBA program is delivered in Chinese (Mandarin) and is offered in partnership with Zijing Education, Tsinghua Holdings Zijing (Beijing) Education Group. The program is designed to provide professional preparation for careers in middle and upper level management.
