Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies - Science (BA)

Cultivate a Sustainable Career with a degree in Environmental Studies - Science

Because climate change and other environmental issues are so complex, they need creative solutions grounded in critical analysis and shaped by multiple disciplines. The Environmental Studies - Science program is distinctive, because our interdisciplinary approach incorporates a diverse array of courses in Art, English, Philosophy, History, Religious Studies, Sociology, and Science, along with practical experiences, internship opportunities, intergenerational collaboration, and a capstone project.

Today’s complex environmental challenges call for versatile professionals who can adapt to and thrive in a variety of settings. Students at Marywood University address real world problems, becoming well versed in the comprehensive analysis of complex environmental issues and potential solutions, oral and written communication skills, and critical thinking. The curriculum varies depending on the track of study chosen, but all Environmental Studies majors share the same foundational coursework and must do a capstone project.

Students are prepared to work in a variety of environmental advocacy occupations upon graduation or to pursue advanced studies if their particular career aspirations warrant additional education.

  • Focus on environmental advocacy, encompassing scientific principles, ethical frameworks, public policy, connections to the natural world, and communications skills
  • Career options include advocacy-based professions focused on environmental issues, such as education, consulting, law, urban planning, policy, public relations, and more
