Music, Theatre, and Dance Students Receive Honors at Theatre Festival
Marywood University’s music, theatre, and dance department students recently participated in and received honors at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF), which was held at Montclair State University, N.J.
Mason Marie Clark, Hawley, Pa., sophomore theatre education major, was one of the top ten finalists in the Musical Theatre Intensive, sponsored by Music Theatre International. Mason was one of more than a hundred entrants in the event, which required her to prepare two songs from a musical. Sophomore theatre major, Alex Murray, Dunmore, Pa., received a certificate of merit for his participation in the devised theatre competition, and recent alumna, Tiffany Atkins, Tunkhannock, Pa., received honorary mention in the scenic design category for her design of Wonder of the World.
Charles Gorden, M.F.A., associate professor of theatre and director of the theatre program at Marywood University, said, “I am extremely proud of all of our students and alumni, as they definitely made a strong showing at this year’s festival.”

Fall Theatre Production: Mad Forest by Caryl Churchill (Oct. 3-6)
The Marywood University Music, Theatre, and Dance department will present Mad Forest by Caryl Churchill as its major fall theatre production. Performances will run from Thursday, Oct. 3, through Sunday, Oct. 6.
