Sophie Till to sit as Panelist for Lackawanna County Arts & Culture Department for a Virtual Arts Brunch
Marywood University faculty member, Sophie Till– associate professor of violin and viola, as well as the director of the University’s String Project– served as one of the panelists for The Lackawanna County Arts & Culture Department for a virtual arts brunch on Friday, October 9, from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Sophie Till be talking about the National String Project’s Virtual Orchestra Project from last year. The theme of the event was Surviving the Distance: Reimagining Art for COVID-19. The event featured a panel discussion on how artists and arts organizations have pivoted and adapted to the challenges faced during the pandemic. The moderator for the events was Conor Kelly O’Brien, actor & co-founder and executive director of the Scranton Fringe Festival. In addition to Sophie Till, panelists included:
- Rob Buscher, festival director and board member, Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival
- Barbara Johnson, founder and executive director of Art Works Now, Hyattsville, Md.
- Travis Prince, board member of the Black Scranton Project
- Francesa Saldan, curator of collections and exhibitions at the Everhart Museum of Natural History, Science and Art, Scranton, Pa.
