A new opportunity for nutrition and dietetics students

A new opportunity for nutrition and dietetics students has been made possible through an agreement between Marywood University and SUNY Broome Community College. Under this new articulation agreement, SUNY Broome students earning an associate degree in health studies will be able to seamlessly transfer to Marywood University to complete their bachelor’s degree in the Nutrition and Dietetics program. The nutrition and dietetics articulation agreement is the latest partnership that complements several other agreements between the two institutions.

“Marywood University is one of the best places to prepare for a career in the health professions,” said Sr. Mary Persico, IHM, Ed.D., president of Marywood University. “We are proud of our partnership with SUNY Broome and the opportunities that our collaborative articulation agreements afford to students,” she continued.

This agreement marks the sixth agreement with SUNY Broome this year. Previously signed articulation agreements between Marywood University and SUNY Broome include: SUNY Broome’s associate in science: visual communication arts and Marywood University’s bachelor of arts: art therapy degree; SUNY Broome’s associate in science: visual communications arts program and Marywood University’s bachelor of fine arts in design with an emphasis in photography; SUNY Broome’s associate in science: visual communication arts program and Marywood University’s bachelor of fine arts with an emphasis in graphic design; SUNY Broome’s associate in applied science in nursing and Marywood University’s bachelor of science in nursing; and SUNY Broome’s associate degree in accounting and Marywood University’s business administration degree in accounting.

These six agreements help to facilitate an easy transfer for SUNY Broome students, and it is predicted that students can earn their bachelor’s degree in two years at the University by following the agreement.

“This articulation agreement between Marywood University and SUNY Broome opens up a number of new opportunities for our students,” said SUNY Broome executive vice president and chief academic officer, Francis Battisti.

Development of articulation agreements with two-year community colleges continues to be a priority of the University, as it eases the transfer process for students in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree. The University partners with colleges throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania, as well as community colleges in New York and New Jersey.
