Micheline “Micki” Orlowsky (she/her) works as the Program Director for the Masters and Dietetic Internship Program at Marywood University and is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Health Nutrition and Exercise Science Department. Micki is pursuing her PhD in Strategic Leadership and Administrative Studies at Marywood University where she also completed her Master of Science degree in nutrition and Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition with a minor in science. She completed her Dietetic Internship with a focus in community nutrition at Cedar Crest College. She is active within the dietetics community. She is currently serving as the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) Chair for the PA Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (PAND). She has served as President of PAND and as the Northeast PA Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics President, President-Elect, Professional Education Chair and Professional Education Chair-Elect, and Career Paths Panel Coordinator, on the Board of the PA Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Political Action Committee as Chair-Elect, and was the State Volunteer Chair for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics National Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo in Philadelphia in 2019. She also serves as a mentor for Diversify Dietetics. She is a graduate of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Leadership Institute Class of 2022. She discovered her passion for mentoring students while being a preceptor for dietetic interns in her previous position which led her to become a part of the Marywood’s Faculty. Her professional interests include health promotion and wellness program planning, leadership, public health and policy, weight-inclusive care, and nutrition education. In her spare time, Micki is an improv and stand-up comedian. She began her comedic journey in 2019 and has performed at a variety of virtual and live events. Micki also enjoys thrifting, reading thrillers, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her friends, family, and her Shih Tzu, Scamp. Her favorite quote from Nora Ephron is also her advice to students: “Your education is a dress rehearsal for a life that is yours to lead.”
