Psychology - General/Theoretical (BS)

Discover a Versatile Future with a Psychology Degree

A psychology degree is a good choice for students who want to work with people and are interested in understanding human behavior and mental processes. Psychology is one of the most versatile undergraduate degrees. Not only will psychology majors learn more about themselves and others, they will gain a myriad of valuable life skills that are flexible and fundamental to achieving success in many careers. Helpful skills for psychology majors include open-mindedness and empathy, critical thinking, problem solving, and effective communication abilities.

A BS in Psychology from Marywood will serve you well in almost any area of endeavor, because our outstanding, highly credentialed faculty provide you with an in-depth understanding of human behavior and are committed to a broad interdisciplinary study of humanity. You'll be trained in scientific and critical thinking and in research methods and statistical analysis; you'll learn to see psychology as an approach to solving problems and discovering new ideas.

Knowledge gained at Marywood can serve as a basis for the graduate work needed for careers in such areas as clinical, industrial/organizational, health, social, experimental psychology, and more. Or, you can use your studies as a springboard for a variety of careers from criminology or counseling to personnel management or market research. Whatever you choose to do, you'll find the study of psychology will provide you with the opportunity to make significant contributions to society. You'll be well on your way to the goal of every Marywood student's education: learning to live responsibly in an interdependent world.
