Do you have an intense passion for Spanish language and culture? Have you ever thought about sharing your passion for Spanish education with others?
Marywood's reputation for producing outstanding Spanish teachers is recognized throughout the Northeast. Our Spanish secondary education program will teach you the Spanish language and culture while providing you with the certification you need to share your knowledge with students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Our program is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and guided by the national standards of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages.
Marywood graduates learn how to educate in Spanish, developing into leaders in foreign language pedagogy. Guided by the National Standards of the American Council of the Teachers of Foreign Language, and our students are prepared in a variety of traditional and cutting-edge methodologies and technology. Our curriculum is rich in the areas of civilization, literature, film, and fine arts and is reinforced with cultural events outside the classroom, including opportunities for study abroad. Courses focus on not only the language but also the culture, literature, and art of Spanish-speaking civilizations. Classroom instruction is reinforced with on- and off-campus cultural events and study abroad opportunities. Our program is designed for both native Spanish-speakers and those who aren't familiar with the language.

My favorite thing about Marywood is how welcoming of an environment it is. I remember my freshman year going through a period of shock at how kind and friendly everyone really is, and I felt like there was a certain standard of kindness to live up to.
Throughout my time at Marywood, every club and organization I’ve joined has welcomed me with open arms and brought me lifelong friends.
