The Environmental Science Program is designed for the student who is interested in a career as a professional environmental scientist, professor, teacher, research specialist, ecologist, or science executive. The curriculum provides necessary background and experience to pursue graduate work and advanced degrees required by certain career tracks. It involved the study of biology, chemistry, ecology, geology, mathematics, and physics.
Heightened public interest in the hazards facing the environment, as well as increasing demands placed on the environment by population growth, are expected to spur the demand for environmental scientists and specialists. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of environmental scientists and specialists is projected to grow 8 percent through 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations.
