Our student-run media provides a multimedia learning environment that mirrors professional industry standards and practices to prepare students for placement in media jobs, to enhance the collegiate experience, and to provide opportunities for creative and personal growth.
TV-Marywood
TV-Marywood is Marywood University’s student-run television station and home of the live weekly news broadcast TVM News. Distributed by Comcast and Facebook, TV Marywood’s department programming reaches over 100,000 homes in the Scranton area. Students can work as on-air talent, reporters and assume other management and production positions. First-year students will also be able to start working at TV-Marywood from Day One.
91.7 VMFM Your Alternative
VMFM 91.7 is Marywood University’s award-winning, student-run radio station, and the only commercial-free alternative station in northeast Pennsylvania. Available 24/7 on 91.7 FM and live stream, VMFM plays a massive alternative catalog that spans five decades and contains more than 10,000 songs. Students from all majors are encouraged to join VMFM, where they’ll gain valuable skills and hands-on experience with media and radio broadcasting equipment.
The Wood Word
The Wood Word is Marywood University’s student-run online news source and a member of the Associated University Press and the National Scholastic Press Association. The Wood Word serves as an information source and forum for discussion among the campus community and also provides practical journalism experience and a means of improving campus awareness to those interested.
