ABLE Grant

  • The English as a Second Language (ESL) Instructor will be responsible for teaching one or more classes as part of the ESL program offered by Marywood University both on campus and at community sites. This includes assessing students and planning lessons in alignment with the Pennsylvania Department of Education curriculum and Marywood University.  The ideal candidate will have the ability to motivate and retain adult ESL learners, and must be able to communicate and collaborate effectively with outside agencies, students, and administrative staff.  The ESL Instructor is responsible to the Adult Basic Literacy Education (ABLE) Program Director and ESL Coordinator under the supervision of the Assistant to the Provost of Research and Sponsored Programs. 
  • Position requires flexibility in work schedule to accommodate classes that are offered in both the day and evening. In addition to instructional classes, program professional development is mandatory for all staff. Travel to off-site locations for instruction may be necessary and required.  Hours and terms of weeks per year are determined by the availability of State and Federal funding.

SUMMARY:

The Head Women’s Flag Football Coach is responsible for coaching the women’s flag football team. This position is part-time.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform all coaching duties in the role as head coach to include on field instruction, game management, recruiting, conditioning, academic monitoring, assistant coach selection/supervision, and sport camp development
  • Be knowledgeable and supportive of compliance with policies and regulations of the University, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Atlantic East Conference, and other athletics related organizations to which the University belongs. Know and implement relevant NCAA and Atlantic East Conference policies/regulations
  • Be knowledgeable about the annual NCAA Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA)
  • Represent the Athletic Department and Marywood University in an appropriate and professional manner at all times
  • Assists in the preparation and monitoring of department budgets
  • Selects, supervises and manages assistant coach(es)

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Recreation

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

  • Track record of coaching success at the high school/club level in girls flag football and the ability to recruit student-athletes to play at the collegiate level

      • Perform layout, fabrication and repair of equipment and structures
      • Troubleshoot and repair complex equipment and distribution systems
      • Analyze simple drawings, follow specifications, oral instructions and general requirements across the following trades: carpentry, electrical, mechanical and plumbing, while under minimal supervision.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

      • Mechanical: Install, diagnose and repair complex and simple equipment; use typical mechanics tools; work from drawings and verbal instructions or sketches; monitors boilers and makes adjustments
      • Plumbing: Make necessary repairs on distribution equipment; use of plumbing tools; use of pro-press; have working knowledge of hot work permit system

      The Adult Basic Literacy Education Instructors will be responsible for teaching one or more classes as part of the ABLE program offered at Marywood University. This includes assessing students, remote and face-to-face instruction, and planning lessons in alignment with the ABLE curriculum. The ideal candidate will have the ability to motivate and retain learners and must be able to communicate and collaborate effectively with outside agencies, students, and administrative staff. The ABLE Instructor is responsible for the Adult Basic Literacy Education (ABLE) Program Director and the ABLE Coordinators. The instructor will teach adult learners in a variety of content areas.


      Required Qualifications:

      Teaching certification is preferred along with experience teaching secondary learners. Pennsylvania Department of Education Clearances required.
